Ghost Season Is Available Now in a Stunning New Paperback Edition!

Happy publication day to the brand-new paperback edition of Ghost Season, Fatin Abbas's must-read debut novel following five characters caught in the crosshairs of conflict on the Sudanese border. Awash with praise from the likes of The New York Times, Publisher's Weekly and more, Ghost Season is a gripping, dynamic debut that expertly weaves the story of Sudan's partition into the fabric of characters experiencing love, loss and the forging of bonds stronger than blood…

About the Cover Redesign

“I wanted the paperback cover to really have that sense of presence and that rootedness of where we know Sudan to be in the moment, but also our hopes for the country.” - Niki Igbaroola, Jacaranda's Campaigns Manager.

The new paperback edition of Ghost Season sees the novel’s cover receive a striking new look, featuring a rich, deep green hue and imagery drawn from a map of Sudan.

In an interview about the redesign, Niki Igbaroola, Jacaranda’s Campaigns Manager, explained that she wanted the new cover to honour the people of Sudan. The vivid green references both the colours of the Sudanese flag and the country’s natural resources, while also symbolising ideas of prosperity and hope and the vision of a future Sudan where people are able to live safely.

Nevertheless, while the new cover looks towards the future, it still retains subtle nods to the original hardback jacket, with elements such as the typography remaining largely the same to create a sense of continuity between the two editions.
