Our Stories in Our Own Words Collection

At Jacaranda we work to bring you stories from the communities that they are about.

So on our Instagram, in the spirit of #BHM, every Monday in October we have been highlighting some special titles from the African Diaspora that embody 'Our Stories in Our Own Words'. Today we're offering 30% off whole the collection!

The first is Finding Home: A Windrush Story, this is the life story of 98-year-old Alford Gardner a passenger on the Empire Windrush. With help from his son, Howard, Finding Home documents how Alford built a life for himself and his family; from Kingston, Jamaica to Leeds, UK.

Another title embodying 'Our Stories in Our Own Words' is Breaking the Maafa Chain by Anni Domingo. Based on the true story of Sarah Forbes Bonetta, Breaking the Maafa Chain is a journey of loss, survival, hope, identity and tradition. Available in both hardcover and paperback!

Black History Walks by Tony Warner. Tony is the founder of one of the most popular walking tours in London Black History Walks. In the comfort of your own home, you can travel through the streets of London discovering new Black Historical sites.

Finally, Quick Ting On: Black British Businesses by Tskenya-Sarah Frazer explores the past, present and future of Black British Entrepreneurship.

Featuring brilliant interviews and first-hand accounts from some of your favourite Black British entrepreneurs - from Sharmadean Reid MBE and Ozwald Boateng OBE, to the late great Jamal Edwards MBE, and so many more - this book offers an important insight into how one of Britain's most influential communities continues to create space in the world of business.
